Halls and Garden

Rooms full of history

The Poste Vecie Restaurant welcomes its customers inside the two historic rooms where you can still breathe the atmosphere of the Ancient Serenissima, thanks to the 16th century fireplaces still functioning today, evocative frescoes representing the 7 deadly sins.

Well, this was the seat of the Venice post office in the 1500s. There are still several letters hanging on the walls that testify to the past as a post office.

Then there are the two ancient fireplaces where once the old owners cooked the bisato sull'ara.

All this typical Venetian atmosphere is surrounded by frescoes by the well-known painter Cherubini.

Hall of the 7 deadly sins

The first room that we find upon entering the restaurant is "The room of vices", so called for its frescoes representing the seven deadly sins painted by Cherubini.

A gift from artists of the time, on the other hand, is a very suggestive fresco positioned above the fireplace, where all the most important members of the Post Office Club were represented who, between the end of the 1800s and the beginning of the 1900s, over a good glass of wine and Venetian cicchetti, discussed art and politics.

Room of letters

it was here that in 1500 the couriers of the Ancient Serenissima sorted the mail to be distributed in the lagoon city, on the walls of our rooms you can still admire coins, old letters and the duties of the ships which, once docked near the nearby Rialto bridge, unloaded the their goods.

Summer garden and

sala modern

In addition to the two internal rooms, the restaurant can welcome its customers in a welcoming summer garden created from a typical Venetian courtyard in the shade of a wild vine.

It is from here that our guests, while enjoying excellent typical dishes, can be pampered by a typical Venetian atmosphere and observe the frenetic activity of the fish market. The winter garden is transformed into a perfectly heated room, without losing contact with the fish market thanks to a window that offers a suggestive view.
