Rooms and garden
Historic rooms and garden: this is the hidden Venice of Poste Vecie
A place to live and savour, among romantic atmospheres, centuries of history, and the most authentic flavours of the lagoon
Among historic rooms, soft lighting, and period details, Poste Vecie welcomes its guests into an intimate and relaxed atmosphere. 16th-century fireplaces and frescoes help create an evocative setting, ideal for experiencing romantic moments in the heart of the city.
Outside, the garden, inspired by a typical Venetian courtyard, offers a quiet, secluded space, perfect for enjoying our cuisine, which celebrates local and seasonal ingredients, selected daily from the Rialto Market and the islands of San Erasmo and Cavallino.

In these spaces once stood the Venetian post office in the 1500s, as evidenced by the letters still hanging on the walls, framed by frescoes by the well-known painter Cherubini.
In this intimate and history-filled atmosphere, two ancient fireplaces also stand out, where in the past the traditional “bisato sull’ara” was cooked, a typical Venetian dish.

Hall of the Seven Deadly Sins
The first room you encounter upon entering the restaurant is “The Hall of Sins”, so called because of its frescoes painted by Cherubini, depicting the seven deadly sins.
The striking fresco above the fireplace, on the other hand, was a gift from artists of the time and represents the most important members of the so-called “Poste Club”, who, between the late 1800s and early 1900s, used to discuss art and politics over a good glass of wine and Venetian cicchetti.

Hall of the letters
In this room, in the 1500s, the couriers of Venice sorted the mail to be distributed across the lagoon. On the walls, you can still admire coins, old letters, and the customs duties of ships that, once docked near the Rialto Bridge, unloaded their goods.

Summer garden and modern room
During the warm season, in addition to the two indoor rooms, the restaurant offers its guests a welcoming summer garden shaded by a wild vine, created from a typical Venetian courtyard.
From here, our guests can immerse themselves in a typical Venetian atmosphere and observe the lively fish market, all while enjoying excellent traditional dishes. In winter, the garden turns into a modern, perfectly heated room that maintains its connection with the fish market through a window with a striking view.
