The history of Antica Trattoria Poste Vecie comes to life in the heart of the Rialto Market, inside the former post office of the Serenissima, of which authentic traces remain today, including letters, shipping documents, and period coins displayed throughout the rooms.

The proximity to the Rialto Market is reflected every day in our cuisine: fresh ingredients, local products, and a strong focus on seasonality create dishes that authentically tell the story of the territory.

The romantic atmosphere is rich in charm, with working 16th-century fireplaces and walls frescoed by Cherubini with the seven deadly sins, framing unique spaces where guests can enjoy the traditional dishes of Venetian lagoon cuisine.

Poste Vecie is the ideal place for a truly Venetian romantic dinner. Tradition says that even Giacomo Casanova loved these spaces and chose them to meet his lovers before the warmth of our fireplaces.

Our cuisine

Our cuisine celebrates the great classics of Venetian tradition: from creamed codfish to spider crab, from Venetian-style cuttlefish to Venetian-style liver, all the way to pasta e fagioli.
Iconic dishes, prepared with care and simplicity, to enhance the ingredients and, above all, the fish, which arrives at km 0 directly from the Rialto fish market. Vegetables and many other ingredients also come from the heart of the lagoon, from the gardens of Sant’Erasmo island and the Cavallino coast, bringing to the table a cuisine deeply connected to its territory.

Our location allows us to work every day with fresh, seasonal ingredients. Depending on the time of year, the menu is enriched with typical specialties such as moeche or oysters from the Po Delta, carefully selected to guarantee quality and authenticity.

Every day, among fish, fruit, and vegetable stalls, inspiration is born for a cuisine that follows the natural rhythms of the city and the lagoon, allowing us to always work with fresh and genuine products.

Tasting menu with local wines

In addition to the great classics on the menu, guests can choose our tasting menu, designed to follow the seasons and accompany you on a culinary journey between tradition and innovation.

To complete the experience, a selection of wines from the lagoon area and its surroundings, from labels produced on the nearby island of Sant’Erasmo to those crafted by the Carmelitani Scalzi.
